light, it seemed, was always there to create CLARITY, and there was always a light somewhere in the darkness. however dingy as the battered streetlamp was, it still did it’s job; an almost amusedsmile twinging at the corner’s of the showgirl’s mouth as the other stepped strutted ) away from the darkness            into clarity

working in such a public business was a social affair; the amount of people columbia had seen walk in and s t u m b l e out of the bar’s doors was almost laughable, ( almost as so that each was as bland as the next ), and yet, even in the face of it all, she knew she’d never seen a person alive that could hold a match to this  - cat.

( a light in the darkness      ? a SPARK in the bleakness. )

the smile only grew as their words hit her ears, stood ‘neath the s p o t l i g h t of the streetlamp. a titter, short and musical, and though the flattery was nothing new, it sat well. nicely. this … strange man at this strange hour with a strange way, an awfully strange encounter, and, though it all seemed rather strange to the girl, she did not find it so strange that she wished to take the stranger up on his offer

             “ ain’t it just. ”
“ look   as groovy as you probably are, i really shouldn’t open up
after closing without a real good reason. ”

the RESISTANCE the good doctor was presented with only amped his excite-
    ment
a vehement state skillfully concealed behind the veiled facade of flirtatious
seductionno further steps are taken towards the girl –– getting too close
    could frighten her
fear never makes for calculated success –– & instead, he
takes momentous drags on his cigarette,
with motions that keep up with continuous
    subtlety being performed.

even so, a SMIRK of the devil’s creation blossoms on mauve lips at columbia’s
    giggle,
taut muscles relaxing beneath his faux paled complexion. it’s not the JOY
from another grinning soul that brings him to this smugness –– but the vain confidence
    held within,
beneath the clinking buttons & glitter donned upon his leather jacket.

❛ –––– perhaps you’ll JOIN me for dinner, then. after all, i’m sure you must be
absolutely famished, after working the bar for so long. ❜ PERSUASION is
heavy in his tone, with a silver tongue that drips like honey off the comb. the

ash-ridden cigarette is flicked to the parking lot’s tar infestation & the simper
previously laid upon a rouged mouth is warmed to something that bore semblance
     to a SMILE.                         ❛ ––– my treat. ❜
